With Mary Sullivan

Mary Sullivan is the author-illustrator of the Theodore Geisel Honor Book Ball as well as Treat and Frankie, all published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Her hand-painted original greeting card business eventually led to assignments illustrating stories and Hidden Picture puzzles for Highlights for Children magazine, which led to work from book publishers such as Scholastic, Innovative Kids, School Zone, Oxford Press UK, Pearson and other educational and trade presses. She has also completed a series of picture books for Zondervan (HarperCollins) by popular TV evangelist and author Joyce Meyer.

Based on the ball chasing dog Mary never had, Ball uses only one word, repeatedly to tell of a dog who dreams of chasing a certain red ball.

You might enjoy the video interview I did with Mary about doing this book on my blog a few years ago. In that that video she talks about the challenge of keeping her drawings fresh as she moves them through the stages to final art.

And here's the great interview she did with KidLit TV.
